The real estate market continues to be abuzz with questions about rate cuts\u00a0 \u2014 will they happen and if so, when?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Robert Heck, VP of Mortgage @ Morty<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-small-font-size\" style=\"color:#c3c3c3\">Paid Partner<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.getbellhops.com\/?utm_source=morty&amp;utm_medium=affiliate&amp;utm_content=paid:partnerships:affiliate:na:na:na:na&amp;pc=morty10&amp;utm_campaign=na\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"722\" src=\"https:\/\/www.morty.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/bellhop.webp\" alt=\"bellhop movers banner\" class=\"wp-image-9226\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Let\u2019s break down some of the trends we\u2019ve been seeing:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Is Inflation Here to Stay? <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/04\/10\/cpi-inflation-march-2024-consumer-prices-rose-3point5percent-from-a-year-ago-in-march.html\">Inflation has remained higher<\/a> than the Fed (and everyone else) had hoped, and the unfortunate news is that interest rate cuts previously expected in June may be pushed to September at the earliest.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How Will Interest Rates Move?<\/strong> Still lower than they were last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.morty.com\/mortgage-rates\">30-year fixed rates<\/a> have been fluctuating between the high 6% to low 7% range. Many experts believe mortgage rates will stay flat or go up a bit, until inflation is more stable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What Does Home Inventory Look Like?<\/strong> Good news here! Supply of homes continues to improve with the number of homes actively for sale <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtor.com\/research\/march-2024-data\/\">up 23.5%<\/a> year over year, marking the fifth consecutive month of growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Are Homes Getting More Affordable? <\/strong>Yes! The median price of homes for sale in March increased only slightly, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtor.com\/research\/march-2024-data\/\">0.2% compared to last year<\/a>. This is a result of positive home selling sentiment driving slightly more affordable, newly listed homes to the market.
